Instead, walk into quilting stores and tell them about your quitting project; they will surely give you the best quality material for your project.

  • It is made with cotton

It is without any doubt that natural fibers are an excellent material choice for cotton since they are generally easy to iron, sew and quilt.

However, the qualities of these fiber materials vary, so your first choice should be cotton when it comes to quilting. This is because cotton materials stick together easily for sewing and quilt pieces arrangement better.

  • The thread count

A good quality quilting fabric must have a high thread count. That is, the quantity of thread woven per the fabric’s square inch must be high. Therefore, for a quoting fabric to be considered good quality, it must have at least a 68 to 78 thread count.

  • Strong odor

If you often go to fabric stores, you would have noticed that some fabrics have offensive odors. This offensive odor results from chemicals used in treating the fabric from the factory to make them appear thicker and sturdy.

These types of fabrics are likely to lose their firmness after several washes, and therefore they must be avoided.

This is why when it comes to durability, absorbing strength, softness, and washability, Moda fabric is rated higher. Plus, Moda is said to have a higher thread count compared to cotton.

Yes, Rayon is the same as Moda fabric. Well, as pointed out earlier, Moda is a variation of Rayon fabric, so in that sense, Moda fabric can be considered Rayon. Also, Moda fabric is an upgrade of viscose Rayon to eliminate waste that is usually accumulated during the production stages of the later fabric.

It would be more acceptable if Moda fabric is considered the same as Rayon.

  1. Users of Modal fabrics are more prone to allergic reactions compared to users of other types of fabrics.
  2. Almost all Modal fabric variants except the ones made of 100% beechwood fibers require to be dry cleaned if they are going to stand the test of time.
